Introduction

Social work is an application-based profession and academic discipline that aims at social change and development, empowerment, and liberation of people. The main purpose of social work is to help individuals and communities to increase their ability to deal with the problems they face and to increase their social functionality. Social work; It implements social interaction mechanisms and supports practices that support the democratic control and decision making of people and society in their own lives and resources with scientific approaches and methods, and enables the development of living conditions by activating the ability of people and society. Concepts such as human rights, social justice, respect for differences are at the core of social work and social work that focuses on people; As a system of values, theory and practice, it examines the connections and mobility between man and his environment. Social workers and social workers / social workers, who focus on problem-solving and change based on human dignity and value, are also representatives of the change in the lives of individuals, groups, and communities in the community.

The purpose of the IAU Social Work Undergraduate Program is to raise social workers who are professional staff who have received social work education necessary to plan, organize, and execute social work programs in society. Theoretical and practical research of social work for our students to catch up with scientific attitudes and behaviors as well as social workers.

Our department was established in 2015 and gave its first graduates with 66 students in 2019. Social work thesis and non-thesis master’s degree began trainings in 2019.
